Extended School Closure

White Oak ISD Community,

Due to the Covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, today Governor Greg Abbott announced that all schools in Texas will be closed until midnight on April 3rd, with a tentative reopen date of Monday, April 6th.  Therefore, White Oak ISD will remain closed until that time.

Please note that this is a very fluid situation, and this could be extended depending upon recommendations the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and so-forth.

White Oak ISD will continue the distance learning plan developed by campus administration to try and have a continued educational process.  Please check campus webpages, Facebook, blogs etc., for any updated information.

Please know that we are looking at every possible ramification that these decisions will have on our students moving forward.  We will keep their needs and interests in the forefront of that decision-making process.

We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause and the disruption of routine, but the health and well being of all Roughnecks will always be our guiding compass.

Please continue to check the White Oak ISD website, Facebook pages, blogs and other local news outlets for updates.

Student Assignments

Parents-  you will receive a call from me this evening regarding our plan to continue your child’s education during the time we are closed.  Please ask your child to check email and teacher blogs on a regular basis so they are able to keep up with assignments.  I also encourage you to visit our website and White Oak Middle School Facebook page regularly for new information.  I will have hard copies of alternate assignments available at the Middle School, Wednesday evening from 4:00-6:00 pm, that can be used if the internet is not available.  Extra copies will be left with Mr. Gray at the administration building if you are unable to come that evening. These copies are only for students without internet service. Our students with disabilities will receive assignments by mail.  Please be on the lookout for that in the next few days.  All completed assignments will need to be turned in electronically or kept until we return to school on March 30.  All campuses are closed, and teachers, as well as office staff, will not be in the building during this time.

Beginning Wednesday, our Food Service Department will provide drive-though sack lunches to all WOISD students.  Please see the post below for more information.

We have a wonderful community, and together, we will get through this difficult time!

Thank you,

Becky Balboa

WOISD Closing

White Oak ISD Community,

Out of an abundance of caution and for the safety and well being of students and
staff, White Oak ISD will remain closed through Friday, March 27th (two
weeks). Students and staff will return to school on Monday, March 30th .
This decision was not made lightly, but due to the Covid-19 (coronavirus)
pandemic, and best practices, we consider this to be a prudent course of action. All
school events, UIL activities and trips are postponed during this two-week hiatus.
Only essential district personnel will be present in-district during this time period.
Due to this emergency closure, the White Oak ISD Board of Trustees will adopt a
resolution that allows hourly employees and other personnel to continue to draw
salary.
The district executive committee for UIL events (Athletics, Academic UIL etc.)
will meet in the coming days and develop a plan to make up missed games, events
etc., as needed. That information will be disseminated when it is available.
Campus administration is already working on plans for ‘stay at home’ learning
projects and ‘on-line’ projects for students. That information and those details will
be disseminated by campus administration on Tuesday the 17 th . Information
regarding Bi-district OAP, prom etc., will be disseminated at that time a well.
We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause and the disruption of
routine, but the health and well being of all Roughnecks will always be our guiding
compass.
Please continue to check the White Oak ISD website, Facebook pages, blogs and
other local news outlets for updates.
